Principal Engineer, Developer Experience – DevEx

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance the Developer Experience (DevEx) strategy throughout the organization in collaboration with engineering leadership.

• Coordinate and unify efforts between Core DX and Cloud/Platform DX.

• Maintain a comprehensive approach to developer experience to prevent localized optimizations and fragmentation.

• Recognize and initiate enhancements across the complete developer journey.

• Create and standardize metrics for developer productivity and engineering insights, including DORA and DX.

• Lead the advancement of internal developer platforms and self-service capabilities across various teams.

• Promote consistency and reliability in CI/CD systems to facilitate swift and predictable delivery workflows.

• Spearhead the adoption of AI-integrated Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices among teams, allowing for safe experimentation.

• Collaborate with engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and platform teams to guide direction without direct ownership.

• Serve as a technical leader and mentor in DevEx strategies and execution.


⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in Developer Experience, Platform Engineering, and large-scale engineering systems.

• Profound systems and operational thinking grounded in a robust software engineering background.

• Demonstrated history of defining and driving technical strategy across organizations.

• Experience in platform, cloud, CI/CD, and developer tooling domains.

• Strong background with internal developer platforms and self-service ecosystems.

• In-depth understanding of developer productivity, metrics, and engineering insights, including DORA and DX.

• Proven experience improving CI/CD systems for reliability, speed, and predictability at scale.

• Capacity to align multiple teams and stakeholders without direct authority.

• Strong systems thinking ability to balance local requirements with overall optimization.

• Recent experience in driving or adopting AI-enabled development workflows throughout the SDLC.

• Exceptional communication and influencing skills across engineering and leadership levels.

• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and Kubernetes-based platforms.

• Knowledge of progressive delivery strategies, including feature flags and canary releases.
