This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Take charge of Database Reliability: Implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies to ensure that RPO/RTO targets are achieved for our core banking systems.
• Architect for Scalability: Define and implement the scalability roadmap, which includes partitioning, sharding strategies, and capacity forecasting.
• Enhance Performance: Conduct in-depth query optimization, analyze execution plans, and proactively address performance bottlenecks.
• Design Infrastructure: Develop and manage scalable inference and connection pooling strategies (PgBouncer) alongside robust backup and restoration automation.
• Establish Observability: Create a monitoring architecture (Prometheus, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics) and define SLIs/SLOs to ensure database health.
• Advocate for Security: Enforce banking-grade security practices, including credential management and compliance-focused data handling.
• Collaborate Across Engineering: Partner with product teams to ensure that database schema modifications and architectural decisions are conducive to a high-load environment.
• Lead by Example: Elevate the technical standards for the DBA function through mentoring, establishing standards, and hands-on implementation.
• Over 5 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in high-load, production environments, ideally within Fintech or mission-critical systems.
• Extensive PostgreSQL Knowledge: Advanced understanding of index design (B-tree, GIN, GiST, BRIN), partitioning, and vacuum tuning.
• Expertise in HA/DR: Demonstrated experience in designing streaming replication, clustering, and automated backup validation.
• Cloud Proficiency: Practical experience with cloud-managed PostgreSQL (particularly GCP) and Linux systems administration.
• Automation Orientation: Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD processes (GitLab, ArgoCD).
• Strong SQL Abilities: Proficiency in complex queries, stored procedures, and functions.
• Monitoring Expertise: Experience in building monitoring and alerting systems for databases (Prometheus/Grafana).
• Proficient in English.
