This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Gather data and apply data science methodologies such as data wrangling, profiling, visualization, and statistical inference to reveal actionable insights and create analytical solutions.
• Oversee the complete decision-making and pricing optimization process.
• Utilize extensive historical and market data to generate hypotheses, perform analyses, develop and assess machine learning models, and influence business decisions.
• Examine large datasets and implement statistical models to propose insights and achieve business goals.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to pinpoint and enhance business strategies, evaluate deal structures, and meet business P&L expectations.
• Remain updated on industry trends and optimization practices within auto finance markets.
• Independently lead complex and high-profile analytical projects while delivering presentations to executive teams.
• Set strategic direction and supervise the work of other Data Science professionals.
• Offer consultative and strategic advice to executive leadership.
• Identify opportunities, convert business challenges into data science solutions, and act as a data science ambassador.
• Visualize insights and convey results to decision-makers and stakeholders.
• Work alongside data and business analysts, software engineers, data engineers, application developers, and business process owners to create scalable analytical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership in specialized areas of data science and guide strategic development initiatives.
• Share analytical and industry thought leadership, detect analytical trends and data requirements, and develop repeatable analytical solutions.
• Identify and mitigate risks, escalate high-risk activities, and implement corrective action plans.
• Engage in cross-functional and enterprise projects as a data science expert.
• Foster relationships across business units and ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards.
• Uphold risk management and control processes.
• Mentor colleagues, contribute to team capacity building, and facilitate knowledge transfer.
• Keep stakeholders updated on project progress and relevant daily information.
• Preferred graduate degree with either progressive project work experience or over 10 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred undergraduate or advanced technical degree in math, physics, engineering, finance, computer science, or a related discipline.
• Thorough understanding of the supported business and the overall banking environment.
• Profound expertise and highly specialized knowledge of analytical concepts and techniques.
• Advanced proficiency in data science, including data wrangling, profiling, visualization, statistical inference, and machine learning.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python.
• Experience in extracting and preparing large-scale datasets.
• Solid understanding of statistics, data mining, optimization methodologies, and advanced analytics.
• Capability to translate business challenges into effective data science solutions.
• Ability to analyze various deal structures and meet business P&L expectations.
• Strong business acumen and skill in communicating analytical insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Competence in leading complex analytical projects independently and presenting findings to executive audiences.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and strategic direction.
• Experience or expertise in auto finance markets is preferred.
• Capacity to identify and manage risks while aligning work with enterprise and regulatory standards.
• Proficiency in collaborating with data scientists, analysts, engineers, developers, and business process owners.
• Ability to mentor and coach peers.
• Capability to work independently on high-profile, complex, and high-risk technology projects.
