Principal Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Act as the liaison between ZAP and the customer-facing analytics application team at Zendesk.

• Facilitate collaborative architectural alignment regarding the data assets that drive customer-facing reporting.

• Define the design patterns for data ingestion, modeling, transformation, governance, and consumption.

• Engage in hands-on activities by constructing and reviewing the most impactful pipelines and curated datasets personally.

• Spearhead ZAP's shift towards an AI-first operational framework.

• Establish engineering best practices for ZAP while extending influence beyond the organization.

• Provide mentorship to staff and senior engineers in the fields of data engineering and data science.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in large-scale data engineering or analytics infrastructure.

• Profound hands-on expertise with Snowflake.

• Proficient in utilizing the modern analytics stack in a production environment.

• Comprehensive practical experience with OLAP warehousing and data modeling.

• Strong architectural judgment across ETL/ELT processes, batch and streaming methods, real-time pipelines, and data access patterns.

• Fluent in SQL and at least one production-grade programming language, preferably Python.

• Proven track record of leading technical design reviews effectively.
