Principal Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Define and spearhead the enterprise data architecture strategy with a strong emphasis on Azure-based modern data platforms and Lakehouse architecture.

• Architect, design, and enhance scalable Data Warehouse and analytics solutions utilizing Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Databricks, Delta Lake, and Microsoft Fabric.

• Construct and manage robust ETL/ELT pipelines through Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, PySpark, and contemporary orchestration frameworks.

• Execute Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) and scalable data ingestion frameworks that support batch, streaming, and CDC workloads.

• Develop enterprise semantic models and optimize datasets for Power BI Premium, Fabric, and self-service analytics.

• Establish enterprise standards pertaining to data modeling, governance, security, observability, and performance optimization.

• Lead initiatives for Data Warehouse modernization and implement scalable Star Schema, Snowflake, and Data Vault 2.0 models.

• Propel platform scalability, MPP query tuning, workload optimization, and initiatives for cloud cost management.

• Implement CI/CD, DataOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or Bicep.

• Advocate for AI-assisted engineering practices by leveraging GitHub Copilot, Cursor AI, and Azure OpenAI to enhance development productivity and automation.

• Mentor engineering teams and promote engineering excellence, automation, and the adoption of reusable frameworks.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8 to 10 years of experience with dbt, Apache Airflow, Kafka/Event Hubs, or real-time analytics platforms.

• 4 to 6 years of experience in AI/ML data platforms, Azure OpenAI, or intelligent automation frameworks.

• 4 to 6 years of experience utilizing AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor AI.

• Azure certifications like Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect are preferred.
