This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Vermont.
• Create and execute software solutions that transform energy IoT devices into assets that enhance a cleaner, more resilient grid.
• Develop and implement systems for gathering and managing data from utility software platforms, including meter data management, GIS, AMI, and EMS/SCADA.
• Proactively identify solutions, design systems, navigate obstacles, and delegate tasks to senior engineers across various teams.
• Cultivate cross-team and cross-functional influence for initiatives across the company.
• Map out dependencies and tradeoffs while assisting teams in executing a unified roadmap.
• Establish connections with energy markets and electric-grid balancing systems.
• Create APIs and tools for hardware manufacturers and integrate third-party enterprise software.
• Work alongside analytics and machine learning teams to provide data insights and enhance virtual power plants.
• Enhance the scalability, automation, and reliability of telemetry for devices, as well as energy and weather data pipelines.
• Introduce tools, techniques, and best practices to the team.
• Address unique technical, operational, and organizational challenges.
• Mentor both early-career and senior engineers.
• Contribute to fostering a positive team culture and an inclusive environment.
• Over 10 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL is mandatory.
• Experience in building data pipelines and ELT/ETL systems.
• Comfortable leading system design and architectural decisions.
• Familiarity with data warehouses, particularly Snowflake, and data modeling.
• Experience in designing and constructing data pipelines within an electric utility is preferred.
• Knowledge of Airflow, dbt, AWS Kinesis, and S3 is preferred.
• Experience with automated testing, continuous integration/deployment, and monitoring systems is preferred.
• Java or MongoDB experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with Sigma, Tableau, or similar BI tools is preferred.
