Principal Consulting Engineer – VMware Cloud Foundation Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Ensure that solutions are delivered according to design specifications and receive customer approval.

• Work in collaboration with the technical architect to create training plans and methodologies that equip staff for successful implementations.

• Establish standards, best practices, and training for team members in conjunction with the technical architect and technical lead in their respective areas of expertise.

• Develop project strategies or technical options that balance customer project objectives with financial limitations.

• Provide leadership and expert consultation on technical subjects and architectural design to customers, the Infrastructure Solutions Team, and other Extended Sirius Teams.

• Communicate and escalate alternatives along with associated risks to executives and stakeholders.

• Ensure adherence to procedures and assist in resolving complex issues that require professional-level input.

• Regularly engage with customers’ technical and business executives and project leaders through sales presentations and/or client project solutions, effectively communicating complex ideas, anticipating potential objections, and facilitating discussions to align expectations.

• Deliver end-to-end VCF Automation engagements on VCF9, from design to deployment.

• Design and construct automation patterns using Terraform, PowerShell, and Python, including third-party integrations with ServiceNow, Active Directory, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub/GitLab).

• Lead customer-facing discovery sessions and road-mapping discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or a related field.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in IT Infrastructure, including at least 3 years in large enterprise consulting.

• A total of 14 years of experience in Information Technology, which must include 10 years in IT Infrastructure.

• Over 7 years of experience in enterprise virtualization/private cloud architecture.

• Practical expertise with VCF 9.0 and building automations within this environment.

• Extensive knowledge in deploying VCF 9 Automation components, such as:

• Authoring Blueprints / Cloud Templates.

• Creating catalogs with approval policies.

• Integrating Terraform and Ansible.

• Authoring workflows.

• Implementing orchestrator deployment models.

• Maintain client relationships as a trusted advisor and mentor engineers in project design and coordination.

• Exceptional communication skills are necessary, with experience in making technology recommendations.

• Ability to research complex technology solutions and effectively present them to clients.
