Principal Consultant, Decarbonization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead client engagements by providing advice on and executing innovative decarbonization strategies.

• Oversee and deliver projects related to target-setting and decarbonization, including technical analyses, client reports, and presentations.

• Cultivate and enhance client relationships by identifying opportunities to broaden current engagements.

• Take charge of and support the development of proposals and competitive bids.

• Exhibit technical proficiency, covering topics related to the technology sector such as cloud computing, data centers, and the impacts of AI.

• Contribute to the development of service offerings and disseminate best practices throughout the team.

• Promote an inclusive and collaborative team environment.

• Work collaboratively across geographic and cultural boundaries.

• Contribute to Anthesis’ innovation and thought leadership in corporate climate action.

• Provide expertise in science-based target modeling and frameworks such as SBTi.

• Lead complex target-setting and decarbonization planning projects, including Scope 3 emissions.

• Create value-driven decarbonization plans that align with clients’ strategic goals.

• Counsel clients on how to convert decarbonization initiatives into sustainable long-term business value.

• Leverage sector expertise in areas such as Technology, Food & Agriculture, Financial Services, Healthcare, or Retail & Apparel.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in decarbonization, climate strategy, sustainability consulting, or similar fields.

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM discipline.

• Direct experience in developing and modeling Science-Based Targets (SBTi).

• Comprehensive understanding of SBTi guidance and requirements.

• Expertise in assessing, modeling, and strategizing for Scope 3 emissions reduction.

• Experience in designing and implementing corporate decarbonization strategies and roadmaps.

• Strong knowledge of GHG Accounting principles and GHG Protocol requirements.

• Ability to convert decarbonization initiatives into commercially viable and value-creating business models.

• Experience assisting senior leadership teams with climate and sustainability decision-making.

• Sector experience in Technology, Food & Agriculture, Retail, and Apparel.

• Strong client management and stakeholder engagement abilities.

• Proven project management skills.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and consulting abilities.

• Understanding of corporate sustainability challenges, climate risks, and transition opportunities.

• Experience with digital tools and analytical platforms related to decarbonization and emissions management.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.

• Capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.

• High level of organization, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.
