This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Establish the visual direction of the project and uphold the quality standards for concept art.
• Oversee the visual development of characters, environments, props, and more, shaping the art direction.
• Investigate visual directions from the initial ideation phase and set the project's visual language.
• Collaborate with Art Directors, Design, and 3D teams to ensure that concepts are effectively translated into the final in-game output.
• Evaluate the work of team members and outsourced artists, providing clear and constructive feedback.
• Create and sustain style guides and visual references.
• Swiftly present alternatives when project directions change, reestablishing the visual direction as needed.
• Define the overall visual language of the project and design, maintaining standards that align deliverables toward a unified direction.
• Over 8 years of experience in game development or related fields, with at least one shipped game.
• A portfolio that demonstrates photorealistic, high-quality character or environment concept art.
• Professional fluency in both English and Korean.
• Strong visual design skills across characters, environments, and other areas.
• In-depth understanding of form, structure, color, and lighting.
• Capability to produce work ranging from quick ideation sketches to highly refined concept pieces.
• Familiarity with the 3D production pipeline.
• Experience in leading a team or mentoring artists.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively and solve problems in a collaborative setting.
• Past experience managing environment art quality and direction while meeting project deliverables.
• Strong self-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Availability to work during Pacific Time zone business hours (10am-4pm) with regular evening meetings for international collaboration.
• Willingness to travel internationally 1-3 times per year for business purposes.
