Principal Backend Engineer, Big Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Designing and developing scalable solutions utilizing Akamai's Cloud Platform.

• Creating and managing data pipelines for data ingestion, processing, and analysis.

• Building new features from the ground up, while also enhancing and optimizing existing functionalities.

• Implementing Unit and Integration Testing.

• Participating in an On Call Rotation.

• Collaborating with various stakeholders, including Data Science, SecOps, and QA teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must not have manually written any code for the past six months.

• Must have influenced AI to generate production-quality code in an automated and cost-efficient manner.

• Extensive experience in Backend / Big Data roles is required. We encourage Backend Engineers without prior Big Data experience to apply.

• Proficient in designing, implementing, and monitoring data-intensive solutions.

• Proficient in modern programming languages such as Java, Scala, or Python.

• Proficient in Backend / Big Data technologies including Microservices, Akka, Spark, and Flink.

• Experience with data storage systems like Postgres, Mongo, Redis, Delta, or Iceberg.

• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.

• Basic understanding of common algorithms and data structures.
