Principal Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop and lead the enterprise architecture for AI automation and business transformation initiatives.

• Enhance operational efficiency, resilience, and process quality by implementing scalable AI automation architecture standards and governance frameworks.

• Speed up transformation delivery and minimize rework through well-defined design frameworks, decision models, and reusable automation patterns.

• Integrate AI-first architectural approaches that enhance automation scalability, decision-making quality, and measurable business results.

• Collaborate across business, platform, data, security, and engineering domains to ensure shared understanding from concept to execution for transformation projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering (mandatory)

• Over 10 years of experience in solution, enterprise, or platform architecture positions

• Extensive hands-on experience with contemporary automation and integration platforms (iPaaS and workflow orchestration tools)

• Background in architecting for platforms such as n8n, Boomi, or similar systems like MuleSoft/Workato, or equivalent automation ecosystems

• Proven experience in designing AI-enabled, API-driven, and event-based architectures for enterprise workflows and transformation projects

• In-depth knowledge of automation patterns, middleware, data transformation, agent orchestration, and human-in-the-loop workflow design

• Strong understanding of REST, webhooks, OAuth, SSO, API security, and governance best practices for AI-enabled systems

• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and AI/ML services (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across the enterprise and collaborate effectively with AI Automation Engineers, Business Systems Analysts, and cross-functional leaders.
