This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Shape the analytics engineering practice and outline the scaling of BI and analytics engineering throughout Zillow Group.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance alignment, and fortify the metrics platform.
• Design the architecture of a semantic layer to ensure consistent and reliable data across BI, data science, and AI tools.
• Analyze both internal and external data to model customer journeys and business processes.
• Develop a reusable and modular semantic layer for BI tools, data science workflows, and AI systems.
• Lead cross-organizational data initiatives that are in line with the company's strategy and roadmap planning.
• Promote alignment on metric definitions and standards for data governance across various business lines.
• Influence decisions regarding whether to build or buy analytics tools, platforms for semantic layers, and systems for data governance.
• Mentor senior analytics engineers while shaping the strategic direction and technical standards.
• Collaborate with executive stakeholders to drive the evolution of data infrastructure.
• Maintain high-availability data and reporting within SLA through quality alerting, issue detection, and prompt resolution.
• Over 8 years of professional experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, visualization, or a similarly related technical data role.
• Proven experience in delivering customer-facing, production-grade reporting accurately and on schedule every day.
• Advanced SQL and data modeling capabilities.
• Experience in designing data architectures that span multiple business domains.
• Outstanding communication and partner management abilities.
• Capacity to achieve alignment and exert influence across product development, engineering, analytics, finance, sales, and operations.
• Extensive experience with semantic layer design, metrics-as-code patterns, and data governance on an organizational scale.
• Strong comprehension of how AI systems, conversational analytics tools, and machine learning workflows utilize structured data.
• Experience in evaluating and implementing analytics engineering tools at an organizational level, such as dbt, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar.
