Pre-Silicon Diagnostics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Create, implement, and sustain chip-level validation tests for HPE Slingshot NIC and switch ASICs, predominantly within emulator-based environments.

• Design and establish a scalable test infrastructure along with automated testing frameworks.

• Generate software-driven test content to validate the functionality of HPE Slingshot and adherence to industry-standard networking protocols.

• Troubleshoot functional, performance, and reliability issues in collaboration with design, architecture, firmware, and software teams.

• Identify gaps in validation coverage and recommend additional testing scenarios.

• Assist in the bring-up process for new ASIC revisions and platforms.

• Record validation outcomes, defects, and lessons learned.

• Engage in design reviews, validation assessments, and post-silicon issue triage.

• Enhance validation quality through the development of tests, automation, and expanding coverage.


⛳️ Requirements

• Generally, 4–8 years of experience in diagnostics, design verification, firmware development, embedded software, or similar engineering roles that involve low-level hardware interaction.

• Experience in developing diagnostics, validation, verification, firmware, embedded software, or tests for ASICs or intricate digital systems.

• Expertise in object-oriented programming.

• Proficiency in Python software development.

• Familiarity with Linux command-line environments.

• Understanding of high-speed networking concepts and protocols, including the fundamentals of Ethernet and high-speed interfaces.

• Capability to independently create test content and troubleshoot complex technical issues.

• Ability to comprehend hardware behavior and identify defects through software-driven testing and analysis.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Preferred: experience with emulator-based validation or FPGA-based platforms.

• Preferred: ASIC design verification experience, including UVM or analogous methodologies.

• Preferred: knowledge of Verilog, SystemVerilog, or other hardware description languages.

• Preferred: experience with high-performance NIC or switch ASICs.

• Preferred: familiarity with HPC or AI system architectures.

• Preferred: experience in embedded software, firmware development, or low-level systems programming.

• Preferred: skills in scripting and test automation.

• Preferred: experience with lossless Ethernet or RDMA-based technologies.
