Portuguese Interpreter, OPI/VRI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Professionally respond to calls and adhere to the Interpreter's Code of Conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Have a solid understanding of industry-specific terminology, especially in healthcare and medical fields.

• Accurately convey all messages without adding, omitting, or altering information.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service while interpreting.

• Enable effective communication between Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and clients through precise interpretation of messages.

• Uphold professional standards of practice.

• Engage in internal professional training initiatives.

• Show enthusiasm for pursuing additional professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader.

• Adhere to the dress code requirements for video remote interpreting (VRI).

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in English and possess native-level fluency in Portuguese (both Brazilian and European varieties).

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in over-the-phone interpretation with a recognized interpreting organization.

• Strong grasp of medical terminology.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is advantageous.

• International healthcare-related certifications are beneficial (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA).

• High school diploma or equivalent from your country of origin/language.

• High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity.

• Excellent communication, active listening, note-taking, and memory retention abilities.
