Policy Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Perform policy evaluations of federal and state legislative developments concerning education data, AI, and workforce advancement.

• Monitor significant rulemaking activities and major grant opportunities.

• Assist in the creation of policy briefs, memos, and actionable recommendations.

• Help draft responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), federal consultations, and public commentary.

• Participate in and provide summaries of webinars, hearings, and coalition meetings.

• Evaluate proposed legislation and regulations related to educational technology, data security, and research.

• Aid in stakeholder engagement and coalition-building initiatives.

• Collaborate with team members across various programs to ensure alignment of policy objectives with implementation.

• Work closely with the CEO on policy priorities for 2026/27.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in public policy, education, political science, or a related discipline.

• Strong attention to detail paired with excellent organizational abilities.

• Capacity to meet tight deadlines and effectively manage time.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficient in Google Workspace, Gemini for Enterprise, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Asana.

• Ability to handle multiple fast-paced workstreams in uncertain situations.

• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Previous experience in policy, advocacy, or education organizations is preferred but not mandatory.

• Highly proactive demeanor and a sincere eagerness to learn.
