Platform Operations Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable infrastructure to support both production and development environments.

• Automate deployment workflows and enhance system performance.

• Ensure continuous platform availability globally, 24/7.

• Provide support to operational teams in everyday business activities.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability and facilitate development and operational initiatives.

• Participate in all phases of the DevOps Engineering Life Cycle, including concept, definition, design, construction, testing, release, maintenance, and retirement.

• Propose, define, design, and implement various infrastructure architectures.

• Maintain and deploy highly available, fault-tolerant systems at scale.

• Utilize Azure cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes, Docker, and configuration management tools.

• Work collaboratively with multiple teams to deliver comprehensive products and features.

• Stay informed on contemporary technologies and trends, advocating for their integration into products when suitable.

• Upon successful completion of the probation period, the candidate will join the team’s on-call rotation, which involves responding to critical incidents and ensuring platform reliability outside of standard working hours, on a scheduled basis.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with cloud platforms, with a strong preference for Azure expertise.

• Proven scripting skills in PowerShell (additional experience with Python or Bash is also valuable).

• Strong familiarity with cloud-native technologies, including container orchestrators, immutable infrastructure, and service mesh.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Azure ARM, Bicep) that operates at scale and across multiple regions.

• Proficient with version control tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, and GitHub.

• Exceptional skills in CI/CD pipeline authoring, with a strong emphasis on automation; we utilize Azure DevOps.

• Familiarity with observability and reporting tools and their components, such as ElasticSearch, Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos, and Raygun.

• Comfortable navigating both Linux and Windows operating systems.
