Platform Infrastructure Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Design and automate a global, multi-region substrate for Akamai Functions

• Ensure Kubernetes environments are provisioned in a deterministic manner and are fully observable

• Create tools to assist developers and transfer stable platforms to SRE teams

• Develop modular Terraform codebases for the provisioning of regional and global Kubernetes clusters

• Package first-party infrastructure components utilizing reliable, version-controlled manifests or custom Kubernetes operators

• Build an observability foundation using OpenTelemetry and VictoriaMetrics for metrics, alerts, and tracing

• Create disaster recovery tools for efficient database backups, state replication, and quick cluster recreation

• Integrate both new and existing shared Akamai infrastructure while moving away from outdated third-party systems

• Facilitate and enhance local and cloud-based development environments in collaboration with software engineers

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

• Proven experience in designing production-grade Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and managing Kubernetes environments

• Strong skills in constructing observability pipelines with OpenTelemetry and metrics platforms

• Understanding of multi-region scaling and architectures for high-traffic systems

• Proficient in developing, debugging, and supporting software application code in partnership with engineering teams
