Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold the cloud infrastructure and self-service tools that engineering teams depend on to deliver software for a significant federal enterprise cloud platform.

• Assist in meeting scope, schedule, and delivery objectives while enhancing the developer experience across the platform.

• Construct and sustain cloud infrastructure (AWS) that supports hosted applications and enhances the overall developer experience.

• Create reusable infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) modules to enable teams to provision standardized and compliant infrastructure.

• Establish and maintain standardized, paved-path CI/CD tooling and pipelines.

• Provision and manage Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) infrastructure and cluster add-ons.

• Integrate tools to meet non-functional requirements such as quality thresholds, security vulnerabilities, and static analysis.

• Complete tasks related to cloud infrastructure and automated deployment, gradually expanding ownership.

• Collaborate with various teams to consolidate and simplify platform tools and services.

• Partner with government entities and application teams to deliver software that fulfills security, SLA, and performance criteria.

• Support recruitment initiatives by evaluating exercises and participating in interviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.

• Skilled in at least one infrastructure-as-code tool (Terraform is preferred).

• Knowledge of essential DevOps concepts: containerization, networking, virtualization, and CI/CD.

• Practical cloud experience (AWS is preferred).

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust / suitability determination.

• Previous experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs is preferred.

• Experience with Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) in a production environment is preferred.

• Familiarity with FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and zero-trust architecture is preferred.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are preferred.
