Data Platform Engineering Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the technical roadmap for our data platform, striking a balance between immediate delivery and long-term scalability.

• Create analytics and data accessibility solutions for both internal engineering teams and external stakeholders.

• Establish a high standard of technical excellence in data quality, validation, governance, and observability throughout the data lifecycle.

• Mentor and develop a team of analytics engineers and data engineers by guiding technical decisions, reviewing code and designs, and supporting their career growth.

• Collaborate with engineering leadership on planning, prioritization, and staffing needs.

• Work cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical customers to launch new data analytics workloads.

• Investigate, assess, and incorporate innovative big data technologies to improve our platform capabilities and influence build-vs-buy strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Proven management experience in building and leading engineering teams is essential.

• Extensive experience in developing and maintaining production data platforms, with a demonstrated record of technical ownership over significant systems.

• Proficiency in big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Hive, dbt).

• Proficiency in workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Argo Workflows).

• Proficiency in multi-language build systems (e.g., Bazel, CMake) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Expertise in Python and Shell scripting.

• Expertise in SQL and/or SQL-like query languages.

• Expertise in version control systems (e.g., Git).

• Expertise in configuration languages (e.g., YAML, CUE).
