Platform Database Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and oversee MongoDB Atlas and non-Atlas environments, ensuring they are highly available, scalable, and secure.

• Create and enforce strategies for resiliency and disaster recovery, including backup, restoration, and multi-region failover protocols.

• Enhance database performance and query execution to support application development teams across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

• Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code solutions (Terraform, GitOps) for the provisioning and automation of databases.

• Implement and improve observability and monitoring solutions utilizing Dynatrace, CloudWatch, and MongoDB's native telemetry.

• Oversee access control, auditing, and encryption processes to fulfill enterprise security and compliance standards.

• Work collaboratively with application, DevOps, and platform teams to continuously enhance reliability, performance, and operational excellence.

• Lead the incident response for database-related challenges, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventative actions.

• Mentor and support technical teams, contributing to documentation, standards, and design reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a MongoDB DBA, including at least 4 years in administering MongoDB Atlas.

• Extensive experience with the AWS ecosystem (EC2, EKS, CloudWatch, IAM, KMS, VPC, Lambda).

• Proficient in Terraform, GitOps, CI/CD automation, and managing containerized workloads (EKS/Kubernetes).

• Familiarity with Dynatrace, Prometheus, or similar observability platforms.

• Strong expertise in Linux administration and scripting (Python, Bash).

• Exceptional analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and incident response activities.

• Travel requirement: less than 10%.
