📋 Description

• As the Platform Database Administrator (DBA) for Aurora, act as the architectural and operational cornerstone for large-scale database environments.

• Bridge the divide between technical data layers and production feature engineering.

• Assume complete responsibility for database performance tuning, optimization strategies, and ensuring system reliability across core software suites.

• Maintain consistent system performance and reliability across over 400 database schemas, overseeing comprehensive schema migrations and monitoring client-specific data growth metrics.

• Oversee AWS Aurora-specific environments, orchestrating cluster endpoint routing configurations, managing failover behaviors, executing parameter tuning, and troubleshooting data warehouse/read replica lags.

• Utilize extensive knowledge of InnoDB core internals to manage locking behaviors, resolve intricate lock contentions, adjust buffer pool parameters, and systematically minimize purge lags in write-heavy database clusters.

• Diagnose and enhance heavy database pipelines through the use of INSERT...SELECT queries and computed-table patterns.

• Evaluate Aurora instance utilization models against pricing factors to appropriately size compute resources and reduce I/O waste caused by unoptimized queries.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent years of relevant practical enterprise experience.

• Significant experience managing AWS relational database environments, with specific expertise in AWS Aurora architectures (read replica scaling, cluster topologies, and parameters).

• A proactive approach to automation, with experience in scripting solutions for schema drift detection, automated alerts for slow queries, or indexing recommendations across extensive multi-database topologies.

• Profound professional expertise in MySQL/InnoDB core behaviors—particularly buffer pool configuration, transaction isolation levels, locking mechanics, and Multi-Version Concurrency Control (MVCC).

• Proven proficiency in system-level database performance profiling, query rewrites, and the development of advanced indexing strategies for large-scale applications.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a history of conveying complex database concepts to software engineering teams and prioritizing tasks based on cross-product impact.
