Platform Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Lithuania, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design, optimize, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, and cloud data warehouses to facilitate both internal analytics and client-facing data products.

• Develop clean transformation logic utilizing tools like dbt and oversee robust workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow), taking responsibility for system monitoring, performance optimization, and incident management.

• Sustain and enhance AWS-based messaging infrastructure (including queues, schemas, event streams) to guarantee reliable, high-throughput, and low-latency data ingestion across various systems.

• Create secure, high-performing, and well-documented data entry and consumption points (such as S3 interfaces) that enable product teams to develop data-as-a-product features.

• Facilitate scalable deployment using Terraform (Infrastructure-as-Code) while ensuring least-privilege AWS IAM access, data lineage, data contracts, and cataloging.

• Work collaboratively across teams with engineers, product managers, and analysts to transform intricate business requirements into reusable, self-service platform solutions.

• Engage in code reviews, document data architectures and workflows, and contribute to elevating engineering best practices throughout the team.


⛳️ Requirements

• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.

• Demonstrated experience as a data or platform engineer, or in a similar capacity.

• Practical experience with AWS (S3, IAM, and related services).

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.

• Background in cloud-based data warehousing.

• Familiarity with transformation tools like dbt.

• Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow or similar).

• Understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles (e.g., Terraform).

• Knowledge of data modeling and ETL/ELT methodologies.

• Familiarity with messaging systems and event-driven architectures (e.g., cloud-native queues).

• Ability to collaborate effectively within a small team and with cross-functional stakeholders.

• Comfort in working autonomously while knowing when to escalate decisions appropriately.
