PHP Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Take a pivotal role in the development and upkeep of Dotdigital’s marketing websites.

• Work in collaboration with skilled engineers, product managers, designers, and quality assurance professionals.

• Create high-performing, visually appealing, and secure websites.

• Develop solutions for both front-end and back-end systems.

• Enhance performance for a global audience.

• Ensure seamless integration of our websites and tools with the Dotdigital platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong, contemporary PHP expertise.

• Proficiency in JavaScript (experience with frameworks such as Angular, Vue, or React is advantageous).

• Demonstrated experience in creating custom WordPress themes and plugins.

• Mastery of SASS or another CSS preprocessor (including writing, organizing, and optimizing effective CSS).

• Solid understanding of website architecture, UX/UI best practices, and front-end performance enhancement.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (experience with Azure DevOps is a plus).

• Competence in git, code reviews, and collaborative agile methodologies (such as scrum, stand-ups, and planning).

• Proficient in debugging and refactoring both front-end and back-end codebases.

• Strong communication and documentation skills.

• Additional experience with: Node.js and Azure Functions.

• Knowledge of Composer, Docker, Nginx, Webpack, and Gulp.

• Understanding of SEO and accessibility best practices.

• Familiarity with PHPStorm or similar integrated development environments.
