This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• As a PHP developer, you will be an integral part of our backend team, collaborating with colleagues from various software domains to enhance our platform.
• You will design new features for our existing Yii-based website, contribute to our new Symfony initiatives, and actively assist in transitioning the monolith to a service-oriented architecture.
• You will further develop current Transfermarkt features and spearhead new initiatives, both within the monolith and the new Symfony framework.
• You will create robust REST APIs that connect our web and app projects.
• You will work closely with stakeholders, particularly regarding API design and the integration of external services.
• You will engage with a growing system that processes millions of requests daily, with a key focus on performance, scalability, and clean architecture.
• You will build it and run it: your curiosity extends beyond software development to encompass how the application performs in production, how it is monitored, and how it can be enhanced.
• You will work within an agile Scrum framework in two-week sprints, actively participating in reviews, retrospectives, and technical enhancements.
• Several years of experience in PHP development, ideally with Symfony, Yii, or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and traditional MVC architecture, along with a willingness to transition to a modern service-oriented environment.
• A solid understanding of the performance, scalability, and maintainability aspects of large web applications.
• An interest in close technical collaboration with colleagues from microservices and frontend teams.
• A passion for teamwork, actively participating in code reviews and taking ownership of your responsibilities.
• Proficient German language skills (at least C1) are essential.
• Experience football up close: Our international team shares a deep passion for football, which you can enjoy firsthand at the stadium with VIP and season tickets.
• Room for your ideas: We foster continuous development through brownbags, code reviews, and tech talks. You are encouraged to experiment, contribute, and shape the future of Transfermarkt.
• Flexibility that suits you: Work from wherever you prefer—whether in the office, remotely, or on workation. Additionally, we offer flexible working hours to promote a genuine work-life balance.
• Active breaks you’ll enjoy: With our Urban Sports Club membership, you can participate in yoga, fitness, swimming, or bouldering across Germany to refresh your mind.
• Team spirit: We value togetherness through regular team events, football quizzes, table football games, and festive gatherings like our Christmas party.
• Development opportunities: We support your professional growth through seminars, training, and conference attendance, facilitating networking opportunities. Our weekly internal English classes not only enhance language skills but also strengthen connections within Transfermarkt.
• Mobile and economical: Our subsidy for the Deutschlandticket allows you to travel flexibly and affordably—whether to the stadium or the office. Additionally, we assist with future planning through contributions to pension plans and capital-forming benefits.
• Comfortable office atmosphere: Enjoy snacks, fruits, drinks, and the occasional game of FIFA or table football to rejuvenate your mind.
