This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise daily phlebotomy and operational services provided by the laboratory at various client locations.
• Ensure the safe and accurate collection, labeling, handling, and transport of specimens in line with laboratory protocols and regulatory standards.
• Monitor patient flow, maintain specimen integrity, and uphold service quality.
• Adjust staffing assignments and workflows to fulfill service requirements and laboratory expectations.
• Perform phlebotomy tasks as necessary to ensure continuity of care and service delivery in situations where backup phlebotomy services are required.
• Ensure compliance of phlebotomy services with laboratory standards, safety protocols, and relevant regulations governing specimen collection and pre-analytic processes.
• Track quality indicators, audit results, incident reports, and patient feedback concerning phlebotomy services.
• Investigate service-related issues or complaints and implement corrective measures in collaboration with laboratory leadership and clinical partners to enhance quality and patient experience.
• Directly supervise an expanding team of phlebotomists and manage workflows assigned to supported care settings.
• Develop and oversee staff schedules to guarantee sufficient coverage.
• Monitor attendance, performance standards, and service reliability.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching, counseling, and corrective measures.
• Foster a professional, respectful, and service-focused workforce that accurately represents the laboratory.
• Manage contingency plans for coverage through backup phlebotomists or designated vendors as needed.
• Ensure all phlebotomy personnel receive suitable initial and ongoing training to operate safely and independently in supported care environments.
• Oversee orientation and competency assessment in specimen collection techniques, patient identification, infection control, professionalism, and laboratory policies.
• Maintain necessary training and competency documentation.
• Provide remedial training to address any performance or compliance shortcomings.
• Act as a technical and procedural resource for staff.
• Serve as the primary laboratory contact for phlebotomy-related service concerns within supported environments.
• Collaborate with laboratory leadership, healthcare providers, nursing representatives, patient access teams, information systems, and logistics teams to ensure accurate ordering, specimen handling, transport, and result reporting.
• Clearly communicate laboratory expectations, policies, and operational updates to phlebotomy staff, addressing service concerns promptly to maintain trust and service continuity.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred.
• A minimum of 3–5 years of phlebotomy experience is required.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience is essential.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service abilities.
• Capability to lead teams working independently across various care settings.
• Knowledge of laboratory specimen collection standards and regulatory requirements.
• Advanced understanding of Patient Experience and Professional Conduct.
• Extensive knowledge of Phlebotomy Quality and Safety.
