This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Responsible for both clinical and technical elements of drug distribution, which encompasses prescription clinical review/verification, patient counseling, resolving medication-related issues, and making necessary prescription adaptations or renewals.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to clinic personnel, nurses, and physicians, primarily through phone and email communication.
• Comply with all relevant guidelines, including established Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory requirements set forth by the provincial College of Pharmacists.
• Manage and reconcile inventory, which includes ordering, maintaining, and organizing the necessary inventory and packaging supplies to facilitate dispensing activities.
• Actively engage in the continuous assessment of policies and procedures related to medication dispensing, storage, and cold chain transportation.
• Provide direction, support, and problem-solving assistance to the pharmacy team regarding daily responsibilities.
• Foster and maintain professional relationships with healthcare professionals, reimbursement coordinators, private payers, and patients.
• Process prescription billing through pharmacy software (Kroll), ensuring all required documentation is accurate and suitable, including (but not limited to) accounts receivables, dosage and dosing intervals, third-party billing restrictions, limited use codes, scheduled appointment dates, clinic locations, copayment management, and coordination of benefits.
• Act as a liaison between insurance plans and physicians to ensure all necessary documentation and information are submitted for patient coverage review.
• Identify, understand, and resolve third-party billing challenges for high-value products.
• Accurately record data and dispense medications, ensuring timely arrival at the appropriate destination.
• Conduct patient follow-up calls.
• Perform sterile compounding and/or release of compounded products.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings as required.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
• Must be registered and licensed as a Pharmacist with the provincial pharmacy college (RPh designation) required. Preferably licensed in multiple provinces.
• 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist is preferred.
• Proficiency with Kroll is required.
• Experience and knowledge of specialty medications and third-party billing issues is considered an asset.
• Exceptional understanding of third-party insurance plans, special authorizations, and Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to effectively communicate in French is a plus.
• Strong computer skills in a Windows environment using MS Office (Excel, Word).
• Excellent phone etiquette.
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage time effectively, set priorities, and multitask to meet various competing deadlines.
• Capable of performing all technical duties necessary for the successful dispensing of medications.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift and move up to 50 pounds.
