This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Work collaboratively with the Athena team to identify, investigate, and rectify duplicate or misrouted payment items through CRM.
• Aid in balancing and reviewing accounts from third-party collection vendors to ensure financial reconciliation and reporting accuracy.
• Engage with payers via phone and other communication channels to research and secure missing or omitted payment-posting information.
• Facilitate the transition of One Time Use credit card payers to EFT/ACH payment methods using the BSG ticket process.
• Review, upload, and post paper remittances along with Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) files from payer web portals into Athena.
• Monitor, document, and escalate emerging trends, persistent issues, and unusual challenges related to payment posting.
• Apply incoming unpostable records and correspondence to the appropriate patient accounts and claims.
• Undertake additional departmental responsibilities as assigned.
• Achieve or surpass production and quality targets established by management.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Additional education or certifications in finance, accounting, or healthcare administration are preferred.
• Experience with Health Insurance Websites/Portals is mandatory.
• Proven experience with Financial Records to resolve missing payments is essential.
• Proficient in reviewing Explanation of Benefits and Posting is required.
• Experience in communicating with payers to research and obtain missing or omitted information is necessary.
• Prior experience in payment processing, revenue cycle management, or related financial operations is preferred.
• Proficient with Windows-based PC hardware and software, particularly spreadsheet applications for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong problem-solving skills to independently identify, research, and resolve complex discrepancies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive patient and financial information.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work overtime during peak periods or on special projects.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to sit for extended periods; occasional walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
