This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Delivering outstanding service to patients with commercial insurance and self-pay accounts.
• Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, assisting with payment plans, and resolving account-related issues.
• Acting as the main point of contact for inquiries related to patient billing.
• Communicating with patients about outstanding balances, denied claims, payment requests, and overdue accounts.
• Setting up and monitoring payment arrangements as needed.
• Processing and submitting patient refund requests in line with established policies and procedures.
• Maintaining daily follow-up worklists and assigned account inventories while achieving set productivity and quality benchmarks.
• Auditing patient accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness in billing and payment information.
• Providing exceptional customer service to patients, staff, providers, and external stakeholders.
• Ensuring the integrity and completeness of account records while complying with HIPAA regulations.
• At least one (1) year of experience in medical billing, collections, healthcare revenue cycle operations, or a nonprofit healthcare setting is preferred.
• A minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience is required, ideally in a healthcare or patient-facing role.
• Familiarity with medical billing practices, insurance claim processing, Medicaid programs, ICD-10 and CPT coding, HCFA 1500 and UB-04 claim forms, and payer reimbursement requirements.
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance eligibility, benefits verification, patient financial responsibilities, and collections processes.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems is necessary; prior experience with Qualifacts CareLogic is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel, with the ability to create, maintain, and analyze reports accurately.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the capability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.
