Patent Agent

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate invention disclosures, scientific literature, and technical information while articulating complex scientific ideas clearly and effectively in both written and verbal communication.

• Perform research on prior art, patentability, and freedom to operate to provide guidance to R&D and business teams.

• Collaborate closely with patent professionals and inventors to draft patent applications and other intellectual property documents.

• Address office actions and manage all correspondence related to patents.

• Maintain patent dockets and oversee internal reporting requirements.

• Keep abreast of advancements in pertinent scientific and patent publications.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer chemistry, material science, or a closely related field; an advanced degree is preferred.

• Recently passed the USPTO Patent Bar Examination; or currently preparing for or intending to take the Patent Bar Examination.

• Effective communication skills to facilitate IP brainstorming sessions and assist in patent application drafting.

• Proficient technical writing skills – capable of drafting clear and concise technical documents, including invention summaries.

• Demonstrated ability to conduct complex intellectual property analyses, including product clearances, technology landscapes, and prior art research.

• Familiarity with patent searching databases and AI search tools is preferred.

• Strong analytical and organizational skills – meticulous attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.

• Provide training to scientists, engineers, and business staff on intellectual property issues.

• Proactively manage work to meet deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities.

• Registered US Patent Agent status is preferred.
