This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Serve as the primary line of defense for critical SQL Server Agent alerts, severe errors, and urgent customer inquiries.

• Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks, which include applying Cumulative Updates (CUs), managing index/statistics rebuilds, executing DBCC CHECKDB, and implementing schema modifications.

• Address the ticket backlog and manage transitions from the weekday DBA team.

• Oversee long-running migrations.

• Connect with multiple clients and facilitate live screen-sharing sessions.

• Diagnose SQL Server issues while keeping customers updated.

• Proactively manage time and communicate effectively in team channels throughout the shift.

• Accurately document ticket and timesheet entries for client billing purposes.

• Provide weekend coverage on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays as per the established schedule.


⛳️ Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience as a production support SQL Server DBA.

• Practical experience in administering SQL Server versions 2012 through 2025.

• Familiarity with instance-level best practices, including MAXDOP, cost threshold, and maximum server memory configurations.

• Understanding of SQL Server security protocols.

• Capability to write T-SQL from scratch and interpret execution plans.

• Skill in identifying parameter sniffing issues, resolving deadlocks, and optimizing poorly performing queries, stored procedures, and triggers.

• Knowledge of native backups, point-in-time restores, database file management, and instance patching.

• Hands-on experience in building, troubleshooting, and failing over Always On Availability Groups (AGs) and Windows Server Failover Clusters (WSFC).

• Familiarity with deploying, executing, and diagnosing SSIS packages.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Willingness to work a 13-hour weekend shift.

• Demonstrated knowledge and skills typically gained through an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or through relevant professional experience.

• Experience in migrating or managing SQL Server workloads in AWS RDS/EC2 or Azure SQL/Managed Instance.

• Active Microsoft Certifications, such as Azure Data Fundamentals or Azure Database Administrator Associate.

• Experience in configuring and deploying SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

• Background in technical support or call center assistance.
