Part Time Temp Reporter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create impactful local news articles in Axios’ Smart Brevity format (usually concise, daily pieces)

• Respond promptly to timely stories, events, and trends

• Contribute to Axios Local newsletters, along with their websites and social media platforms as required, often with a quick turnaround

• Work collaboratively with an editor and/or full-time newsletter writers

• Occasionally assist in covering longer reporting gaps (e.g. 1-3 months) as necessary

• Excellent news judgment and proficient, succinct writing skills

• Capability to work swiftly and meet deadlines

• A broad curiosity and passion for reporting and writing on a variety of topics, including sports, business, dining, development, and transportation

• Comfort in writing in a conversational, audience-focused tone

• Equally adept at conducting original reporting and effective aggregation

• Experience with newsletters or writing that prioritizes audience engagement

• Familiarity with the Smart Brevity style (or a willingness to learn quickly)

• Strong communication abilities and experience in a remote work setting

• A self-motivated individual: While some stories may be assigned, you will be expected to propose actionable ideas daily
