Paralegal II – Property Litigation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Act on behalf of TD Insurance and/or its insured parties through verbal and written representation in the Small Claims Court and/or other tribunals, including the Landlord Tenant Board.

• Manage all litigation components of Small Claims Court cases, covering everything from pleadings and settlement discussions to trial proceedings.

• Create legal documents and instruments informed by legal research and a solid understanding of laws and legal protocols.

• Provide counsel and receive instructions from specialists dealing with residential, subrogation, and/or auto property damage claims.

• Deliver consistent updates and evaluations based on thorough analysis.

• Prepare briefs related to damages and relevant documents.

• Oversee the organization of files and related databases.

• Interact directly with clients and/or external legal representatives to facilitate the collection and distribution of necessary information and documents.

• Conduct legal research on pertinent laws, judicial rulings, legal actions, and other resources relevant to assigned cases.

• Maintain discretion while managing confidential information and sensitive matters.

• Engage in special projects as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Successfully completed a Paralegal program from an accredited institution.

• Currently holds a Paralegal license from the Law Society of Ontario, in good standing.

• At least 5 years of direct experience in Small Claims Court.

• Proven experience in mentoring, managing, or supervising paralegals and/or students in Small Claims Court contexts.

• Experience with residential defense, first-party residential claims, subrogation, and auto property damage claims is advantageous.

• Trial experience is considered an asset.
