This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Manage first-party property claims that vary in severity and complexity.

• Conduct investigations, evaluations, estimations, negotiations, and resolutions for personal or business property claims.

• Perform field inspections, document damages through photographs, and create written or computer-generated estimates.

• Review policies, leases, contracts, by-laws, business interruption calculations, and other pertinent documents.

• Obtain recorded or written statements as necessary.

• Establish precise claim and expense reserves.

• Calculate settlement amounts by utilizing estimates, valuations, contractor validations, appraisals, limits, deductibles, and independent adjuster work.

• Negotiate settlements with contractors, insured parties, and representatives within established authority limits.

• Draft denial letters, Reservation of Rights letters, and other complex correspondence.

• Maintain claim diaries, required data, documentation, and file inventories to ensure timely resolution.

• Manage files in accordance with applicable state regulations and quality standards.

• Deliver customer service to insured individuals, agents, and internal and external business partners.

• Refer claims to Special Investigations, Subrogation, or Major Case Units when appropriate.

• Provide multi-line claims support for Auto, Workers Compensation, General Liability, and other business areas.

• Mentor and coach junior claim professionals as needed.

• Attend depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, trials, and other legal proceedings as required.

• Take part in the Catastrophe Response Program, including deployments of at least 16 days to other states.

• Perform resolution desk technical tasks and follow-up calls on a rotational basis.

• Access and inspect all areas of properties or structures, including climbing ladders, walking on roofs, and entering confined spaces.

• Execute administrative duties and other assigned responsibilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• A minimum of one year of prior experience in handling outside property claims or successful completion of the Travelers Outside Claim Representative training program.

• Possession of a valid driver's license.

• A Bachelor's Degree is preferred for ideal candidates.

• Two or more years of experience in outside property claim handling is preferred for ideal candidates.

• General knowledge of the Xactimate estimating system is desirable.

• Advanced interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities are required.

• Intermediate capacity to work independently is necessary.

• Intermediate judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills are required.

• Intermediate negotiation skills are essential.

• Intermediate written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are crucial.

• Intermediate investigative skills are needed.

• Intermediate ability to analyze and determine coverage is necessary.

• Intermediate ability to assess and evaluate damages is required.

• Intermediate capacity to resolve claims within settlement authority is essential.

• A valid passport is necessary.

• Ability to obtain and maintain required insurance licenses and/or UAS Remote Pilot Certification as applicable.

• Capability to carry, set up, and climb a 38-to-49-pound ladder, walk on roofs, and access tight spaces.

• Willingness to participate in catastrophe deployments away from home for a minimum of 16 days is required.
