Outpatient Coding Specialist – Surgery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Assign diagnosis and procedure codes using the relevant coding classification system for all episodes of care in the emergency department, same-day surgery, outpatient clinic, observation, inpatient OB/newborn hospital, and specialty clinic encounters, ensuring adherence to coding conventions, guidelines, and hospital policy.

• Ensure compliance with official guidelines, including ICD-10-CM, AHA Coding Clinic, AMA CPT Assistant and Guidelines, as well as AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and LifePoint Health Support Center (HSC) policies and procedures.

• Achieve and sustain a 95% accuracy rate on quality reviews and meet assigned productivity standards.

• Keep abreast of relevant rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that affect the coding domain.

⛳️ Requirements

• Education: An associate degree in a health-related field is preferred.

• Experience: A minimum of one year of outpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital is preferred.

• Certifications: Preferred certifications include Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
