Outpatient Coder – Per Diem

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the operational effectiveness of a multifaceted health system.

• Code diagnoses and procedures for designated cases.

• Utilize knowledge of UCLA Health, AHA – Coding Clinic, and AMA – CPT Assistant guidelines.

• Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes to patients.

• Accurately and promptly abstract all coded data into the abstracting system.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate degree in health information science, Bachelor’s degree in health information management, or completion of courses in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding.

• COC, CPC-H, CCS, or CCS-P certification is required.

• A minimum of three years of experience in surgical procedural and ambulatory care coding.

• At least three years of experience as an outpatient coder, with a preference for acute care hospital experience.

• Proficient in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS coding and modifier utilization.

• Familiarity with APC payment methodologies, AHA Coding Clinic, and CPT Assistant.

• Capability to orient and train new employees and students.

• Understanding of all state and national reporting requirements.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and prioritization skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and 3M 360 Encompass software.
