This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Evaluate and analyze legacy NOAA Fisheries database environments along with their data structures.
• Design and implement modernized Oracle database architectures and associated solutions.
• Develop, optimize, test, and maintain Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and other database objects.
• Assist with data migration and consolidation from legacy systems into updated platforms.
• Create and manage Oracle DDL scripts and database deployment packages.
• Support Fisheries Dependent Data (FDD) management initiatives along with regulatory reporting systems.
• Collaborate with software developers, business analysts, and project managers in agile development settings.
• Ensure all database solutions meet GARFO software development and database design standards.
• Engage in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization tasks.
• Aid in the creation of documentation for database architecture, schemas, migration processes, and operational procedures.
• Contribute to cloud and data modernization efforts in alignment with NOAA and Commerce strategic goals.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Over 5 years of practical experience in Oracle database development.
• Strong proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL development and performance tuning.
• Experience in designing and implementing relational database architectures.
• Proven experience in analyzing and modernizing legacy database systems.
• Familiarity with data migration and ETL methodologies.
• Experience in developing Oracle DDL and database deployment scripts.
• Knowledge of Oracle Unit Testing.
• Strong understanding of SDLC processes and version control practices.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within distributed agile teams.
