Operations Manager – Last Mile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Manage the daily activities of contract carriers, which includes maintaining contractor schedules, overseeing routes, generating reports, and nurturing positive relationships with contract carriers and their assistants.

• Develop and guide staff to achieve their objectives; provide training on company policies and procedures.

• Execute managerial duties such as interviewing, hiring, disciplining, and addressing issues.

• Ensure adherence to corporate warehouse policies, procedures, and programs.

• Supervise employees in alignment with company policies and relevant laws, which includes interviewing, hiring, and training staff, planning, assigning, and directing work, assessing performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving complaints.

• Utilize route planning software to create efficient delivery routes.

• Oversee the dispatch of contract carriers and troubleshoot issues throughout the day.

• Identify areas for improvement, including restructuring routes to enhance operational efficiencies.

• Train and develop contract carriers and dispatchers to meet and exceed customer expectations.

• Ensure all tasks are completed accurately and within the established timeframe.

• Confirm that photos are taken for every job.

• Allocate and request additional resources as necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant logistics and supervisory experience.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.

• Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field.

• Flexibility to work various shifts, including holidays, days, evenings, nights, and weekends; occasional travel between branches and regions.

• Experience in mentoring, training, and guiding junior or less-experienced team members.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish (capable of reading, writing, and speaking both languages).

• Strong business acumen with a readiness to collaborate with management teams.
