This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska, +3 more states.
• Act as AstraZeneca’s regional medical representative in thoracic cancer and develop a local medical strategy aimed at enhancing patient care and outcomes.
• Offer medical and scientific assistance for oncology products that are marketed, as well as for new indications and compounds currently in development.
• Build trusted scientific-advisor relationships with both internal collaborators and external healthcare professionals.
• Address scientific inquiries and consolidate insights from healthcare professionals across various regional segments.
• Incorporate scientific knowledge into business strategies, training programs, and resources.
• Distill research findings and present them effectively to healthcare professional audiences.
• Collaborate with teams across Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Development departments.
• Facilitate the sharing and implementation of guidelines within Field Medical Affairs processes.
• Lead clinical trials, research initiatives, and special projects.
• Mentor team members in external business environments, including academia, hospitals, managed markets, and private practices.
• Encourage innovative and creative ideas from team members.
• Contribute to the development of MSL training content and onboarding processes; act as a mentor for new MSL hires.
• Oversee scientific coverage at congresses for MSL and provide support in data synthesis.
• An advanced scientific degree in a relevant health science or clinical field is required, such as PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, PA, NP, or BSN with significant clinical experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as an MSL or in a related therapeutic area is required.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for conveying scientific data to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in teams.
• Proficiency in navigating a matrixed organizational environment.
• Proven leadership qualities, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong project management skills are essential.
• Willingness to travel 40–60% domestically by car and air.
• Experience as a clinical-discipline MSL is preferred.
• Background in oncology is preferred.
• Proven ability to deliver customer-related outcomes in a specific field or territory is desirable.
• Demonstrated capability to influence Medical Affairs and MSL strategies on a regional level is desirable.
