This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +4 more states.
• Act as the local medical representative for AstraZeneca in thoracic cancer and develop a local medical strategy aimed at enhancing patient care and outcomes.
• Offer medical and scientific support for oncology products that are marketed, along with new indications and compounds currently in development.
• Build trusted relationships as a scientific advisor with both internal teams and external healthcare professionals.
• Collect insights from healthcare professionals across various segments and relay this information internally.
• Incorporate scientific knowledge into business strategies, training programs, and resources.
• Analyze research findings and summarize results for different healthcare professional segments.
• Work collaboratively with Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Development teams.
• Facilitate the sharing of guidelines and implement these guidelines within Field Medical Affairs processes.
• Oversee clinical trials, research initiatives, and special projects.
• Mentor team members in establishing external relationships across academia, hospitals, managed markets, and private practices.
• Encourage and support team members' creative and innovative ideas.
• Contribute to the development of MSL training materials and assist with MSL onboarding processes.
• Act as a mentor to newly hired MSLs.
• Guide MSLs in scientific coverage at congresses and support data synthesis.
• An advanced scientific degree is required: PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, PA, or NP in a relevant health science or clinical discipline.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as an MSL or in a related therapeutic field.
• Proven expertise in achieving customer-related outcomes in the designated field or territory.
• Demonstrated capability to influence Medical Affairs and MSL strategies at a regional level.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for conveying scientific information to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as in team settings.
• Skilled in navigating a matrixed organizational environment.
• Proven leadership, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong project management skills.
• Willingness to travel 40–60% domestically by car and plane.
• Experience in oncology is preferred.
• A doctorate is strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline.
