This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Recruit, train, retain, mentor, and guide a diverse team of Oncology Sales Specialists.
• Achieve and surpass strategic sales goals while establishing accountability within the team through KPI communication and oversight.
• Exemplify a shared vision, set clear expectations, foster accountability, empower team members, and drive process improvements.
• Lead and mentor Oncology Sales Specialists in organizing resources for comprehensive account engagements.
• Create and execute customer-focused business strategies in collaboration with customer engagement and cross-functional partners.
• Participate on the Regional Leadership team to support regional objectives, business execution, team growth, and organizational culture.
• Foster a customer-oriented culture that promotes problem-solving, teamwork, experimentation, and results-driven actions.
• Guide and develop team members on clinical knowledge, access and reimbursement, business acumen, territory management, and omni-channel marketing.
• Utilize analytics platforms to inform decisions and pinpoint risks and opportunities.
• Ensure efficient deployment of in-person meetings, omni-channel resources, total office visits, and cross-functional collaborations.
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
• Leadership experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or similarly structured sectors with large, geographically dispersed sales teams is essential.
• Candidates from complex sales backgrounds, such as medical devices, diagnostics, life sciences services, insurance, consumer health, or B2B sectors are welcome to apply.
• Internal Sales Associates should have completed the Novartis Emerging Leaders Development Program (ELDP) or possess 2+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech sales management experience in the two years preceding their entry into the company.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a first-line sales manager for Oncology Area Business Leader I.
• At least 5 years of experience as a first-line sales manager for Oncology Area Business Leader II.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience as a first-line sales manager for Senior Oncology Area Business Leader.
• Strong strategic thinking capabilities and an enterprise-wide perspective.
• Proven track record in attracting, developing, and retaining diverse talent while building high-performing collaborative teams.
• Demonstrated ability to drive sales growth, lead cross-functional collaborations, and implement strategic initiatives in complex, multi-regional settings.
• Experience in managing field organizations through periods of change, innovation, or growth is highly valued.
• Candidates must reside within the territory or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 100 miles from the territory border.
• Willingness to travel 60–80% across a wide geographic area, including driving and/or flying within the territory.
• A fully valid and unrestricted driver’s license is required.
• Extensive knowledge of clinical aspects, access and reimbursement, business insight, territory management, and omni-channel marketing tools is necessary.
• Experience leading sales teams in promoting to large practices, hospitals, IDNs, and SoC customers, along with a solid understanding of reimbursement, is desirable.
• Must adhere to customer credentialing guidelines for roles that involve customer interaction.
• Successful completion of initial training, including home study, consisting of eight or fewer hours per day and a total of forty or fewer hours per week, is mandatory.
