Nurse Practitioner, GLP-1 Prescriber

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Perform synchronous telehealth evaluations for new GLP-1 patients, determining eligibility, comorbidities, contraindications, and treatment objectives according to Berry Street's clinical protocol.

• Prescribe and adjust dosages of FDA-approved GLP-1 medications (Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro, etc.) utilizing your independent prescriptive authority.

• Oversee follow-up appointments, dose adjustments, side effect counseling, and lab reviews through a combination of synchronous visits and asynchronous chart evaluations, in compliance with applicable state laws.

• Review care summaries from Berry Street RD prior to prescribing sessions and incorporate documented lifestyle modification history into your clinical records.

• Author Letters of Medical Necessity for prior authorization requests.

• Address prior authorization appeals that require clinical input within 48 hours and assist with renewal prior authorization documentation every 6 to 12 months.

• Engage in clinical reviews, protocol updates, and quality improvement initiatives led by the Medical Director to enhance the prescribing experience continuously.

• Maintain active licensure, independent prescriptive authority, malpractice coverage, and payer credentialing across all contracted states.

• Take part in periodic chart audits and quality assessments conducted by the Medical Director.

⛳️ Requirements

• Valid, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license and current ANCC or AANP board certification (FNP, AGNP/AGPCNP, or a similar population-focused certification relevant to adult weight management).

• Active licenses in at least 30 U.S. states, prioritizing those that allow full independent practice and prescriptive authority, including: WA, AZ, OR, OK, UT, NV, IA, KS, ID, HI, NH, MT, RI, DE, SD, ND, AK, DC, WY; 50-state licensure is highly preferred.

• A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience managing patients with obesity, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, or associated cardiometabolic conditions.

• Comfort in a fully remote clinical environment with proficiency in EHR systems.

• Active NPI and professional liability/malpractice insurance that covers telehealth NP encounters.

• Authorized to work and physically located in the U.S.

• Training or certification in obesity medicine (e.g., SCOPE, OMA coursework, ABOM-eligible training) is advantageous.

• Prior telehealth prescribing experience in weight management or metabolic health is a plus.
