This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Arrive at the location 1-2 weeks prior to the opening alongside the NPO team.

• Ensure the café meets Lava Island's operational standards.

• Complete setup tasks in the café beyond the MCS scope, including equipment calibration, stocking, station preparation, and readiness of the prep system.

• Verify that food safety and ServSafe standards are adhered to; escalate any issues needing HQ or vendor assistance to the NPO GM promptly.

• Conduct interviews for café candidates in collaboration with the NPO GM; offer insights on hiring choices.

• Assemble a café team with the appropriate structure and depth to handle the expected opening volume.

• Oversee on-site training across all café stations: preparation, line service, expediting, and food safety.

• Instruct on Lava Island café standards, including recipes, portion sizes, ticket times, station discipline, cleanliness, and expected guest experiences.

• Lead the café team during the grand opening week as the on-shift leader.

• Make immediate decisions regarding preparation, par levels, station coverage, and resolution of guest issues.

• Serve as the Manager on Duty during assigned shifts throughout the deployment.

• Remain on-site for 2-3 weeks after opening; continue mentoring the team, addressing performance and attendance concerns in real time, and enhancing café operations.


⛳️ Requirements

• Previous experience at Lava Island as an AM with café expertise, or as a Crew Member with significant café experience and proven readiness for a salaried leadership position.

• Strong operational knowledge of café operations: preparation, line execution, food safety, station discipline, and team leadership within the café.

• Proven capability to lead during high-pressure shifts with composure and clarity, and to quickly coach a brand-new team to achieve high performance.

• Willingness to travel continuously, without a home park base, in deployment cycles lasting 4-6 weeks.

• Ability to adapt to unfamiliar environments and uphold the Lava Island standard in a new park, with a new team, and within a new community.

• Must be 18 years or older.

• Current ServSafe Manager Certification, or completion expected within 30 days of hire.

• Proficiency with technology: comfortable using email, spreadsheets, scheduling tools, and digital documentation. Lava Island operates within a Microsoft 365 and Outlook environment.
