
NOC Engineer I – Outage Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Facilitate coordination of network outages with teams from Voice, Video, IP, Transport, OSP, and Local Operations to ensure prompt resolution.
• Execute event notifications for internal teams, leadership, and external clients.
• Generate and escalate third-party tickets for offnet outages.
• Assist in isolating outages, troubleshooting, and identifying persistent network issues.
• Diagnose and resolve escalated network performance challenges while monitoring affected systems.
• Provide technical and analytical support during root cause investigations and help develop action plans.
• Address customer and network trouble tickets to restore services and rectify faults.
• Support NOC team members during significant outages affecting Voice, Transport, IP, and Broadband networks.
• Assist with Change Management tasks as required.
• Undertake additional responsibilities and project assignments as directed by NOC leadership.
• A high school diploma is mandatory; an Associate or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• 2–4+ years of professional experience in network operations or five years or more in related engineering or technical roles.
• Strong comprehension of Ethernet and TCP/IP networking principles.
• Practical knowledge of IEEE and ITU standards pertaining to FTTH and GPON technologies.
• Proficient in troubleshooting Access and Core engineering environments.
• Experience with MPLS, Layer 2 and Layer 3 private networks, GPON and XGS-PON networks, as well as multiprotocol routing technologies.
• Familiarity with the OSI model and routing/transmission protocols such as VRF, VPN, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, VPLS, and VPRN.
• Understanding of digital cross-connect systems, multiplexing systems, and TL1- or CLI-based provisioning processes.
• Working knowledge of TDM, SONET, CWDM, DWDM, OTN, ROADM, and switching or protection methodologies.
• Experience with Cisco, Ciena, and Nokia routing platforms, along with supporting software or hardware upgrades for broadband access and core systems.
• Capability to work a 24/7 operational schedule, including nights and weekends.
• CCNA certification is preferred.
• Strong abilities in written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, prioritization, independent judgment, and collaboration.
