Network Operations Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Aid in the configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrades of next-generation firewall devices from Fortinet, Cisco, and Palo Alto.

• Support customer-facing networks while collaborating with senior engineers on network expansion, hardware refresh, and connectivity solutions.

• Execute system and network configurations in alignment with corporate security policies and industry best practices.

• Assist with SD-WAN, MPLS, and wired/wireless Layer 2/Layer 3 connectivity, including firewalls, routers, switches, and load balancers.

• Manage Cradlepoint wireless edge devices via Ericsson NetCloud Manager, covering onboarding, provisioning, configuration groups, firmware updates, and license tracking.

• Provide break/fix and change-management support for Cradlepoint deployments, encompassing LTE/5G troubleshooting, carrier issues, RMAs, and configuration alterations.

• Deliver multilayer technical support to customers via Network Operations Center services.

• Analyze and resolve potentially service-impacting anomalies, escalating issues when necessary.

• Take ownership of complex customer issues until resolution, escalating to senior engineering resources as needed.

• Coordinate with customers, vendors, and third-party providers to troubleshoot problems.

• Accurately track issues within the ticketing system and provide timely updates to customers.

• Obtain and maintain relevant technical certifications.

• Adhere to company ethics, values, data-handling agreements, policies, privacy practices, compliance training, and policy acknowledgments.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field, or 5+ years of relevant work experience.

• Practical experience in network troubleshooting utilizing OSI model knowledge, debug commands, packet captures, routing, and path analysis.

• Experience in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco ASA/Firepower and Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center.

• Familiarity with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, access points, and switches.

• Knowledge of Cisco routers and switches; exposure to Cisco Nexus is preferred.

• Awareness of Juniper EX/QFX switches, routers, and SRX firewalls.

• Familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama.

• Experience in troubleshooting SD-WAN, including FortiGate SD-WAN implementations.

• Proficient in configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Cradlepoint routers and Ericsson NetCloud Manager, including LTE/5G connectivity.

• Working knowledge of BGP and OSPF, with hands-on troubleshooting; IS-IS exposure is a plus.

• Familiarity with load balancers; experience with F5 LTM/GTM is preferred.

• Exposure to VMware NSX-V and NSX-T is a plus.

• Understanding of MPLS concepts and troubleshooting capabilities.

• Strong experience in Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting.

• Exposure to AWS networking services is a plus, including VPC, Transit Gateway, VPN, Direct Connect, Security Groups, and NACLs.

• Familiarity with Cloudflare services is advantageous, including DNS, CDN, WAF, DDoS protection, Zero Trust/Access, and Tunnel.

• Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to owning incidents until resolution in a 24/7 operations environment.

• Capability to collaborate across shifts and time zones, sharing knowledge with colleagues.

• Demonstrated learning agility and adaptability.

• Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or Cradlepoint certifications are preferred but not mandatory.

• Must have legal eligibility to work in the assigned country without the need for visa sponsorship.

• Ability to work for extended periods utilizing a computer, keyboard, mouse, office software, and communication tools.

• Capacity to participate in frequent virtual meetings and communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.

• Willingness to work occasional evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays to support 24/7 operations.
