This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.
• Oversee the network by monitoring circuit status, network performance, and implementing upgrades and patches.
• Timely resolution of vulnerability assessments.
• Analyze network equipment logs to anticipate potential failures.
• Authorized to liaise with vendors (as per maintenance agreements) for the replacement of components including hard drives, circuit boards, and network appliances.
• Utilize network management tools to assess network traffic and propose solutions to enhance network performance.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues and their root causes.
• Plan and design for the expansion or enhancement of network infrastructure.
• Address hardware or software issues within the network.
• Evaluate problems, identify causes, and resolve issues promptly.
• Collaborate with vendor technicians and/or IT leadership when necessary.
• Contribute to projects: Participate as a team member in various project teams, potentially working on multiple overlapping projects.
• Effectively manage time and productivity to keep projects within budget and schedule.
• Collaborate efficiently with project managers and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication.
• Maintain user and security controls for both local and remote network access.
• Keep a log of patches, upgrades, maintenance, and repairs.
• Assist in disaster recovery and business continuity efforts: Help conduct ongoing system and data restore tests to ensure optimal procedures are established in case of a disaster.
• Engage in routine exercises for disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Replace and install network equipment as needed.
• Manage inventory of network support contracts to ensure current licenses are active.
• Support and engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Represent the Credit Union in a professional and positive manner.
• Maintain confidentiality of member and other sensitive information.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in network support and analysis.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols and the OSI model, as well as the Windows server suite, Exchange network, and network security.
• Must possess knowledge and comprehension of network architecture.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, particularly in listening and questioning.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Over 2 years of experience in network management, with more than 5 years of overall IT experience.
• Familiarity with SD-WAN devices (Silverpeak preferred).
• Experience with Cisco switching and routing.
• Knowledge of VPN and Firewall devices (Cisco ASA and Fortinet preferred).
• Experience with wireless access points and VPN devices (Meraki preferred).
