This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Report on City Hall activities in Worcester, Massachusetts
• Assist with municipal government reporting for Central Massachusetts communities
• Cover upcoming elections
• Familiarize yourself with Worcester's neighborhoods
• Cultivate relationships across the political landscape and among community stakeholders
• Create compelling content that addresses residents' real-life challenges
• Deliver concise and accurate stories within tight deadlines
• Balance long-term investigative and enterprise reporting
• Capture photos and videos as needed
• Leverage social media, audience metrics, and SEO strategies
• Bachelor's or master’s degree in communications, journalism, or a comparable mix of education and experience
• At least 3 years of professional journalism experience or substantial internship experience is preferred
• Strong writing, communication, and time management skills
• Proven ability to meet deadlines effectively
• Capability to produce content that is polished, accurate, and ready for publication
• Knowledge of reporting ethics and sourcing practices
• This position requires a valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance mandated by state law
• Candidates should be proficient with AI and automation, using these tools to enhance their journalism
