Mortgage Loan Originator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Execute a diverse range of tasks associated with the origination of residential first mortgage loans.

• Achieve the standards and objectives set by management for mortgage loan sales and cross-selling initiatives.

• Take overall responsibility for the residential mortgage loan process from application through to closing.

• Build and maintain referral relationships with realtors, builders, and both professional and personal contacts.

• Stay informed about Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures.

• Keep up-to-date with the available loan products, processing procedures, underwriting, and general departmental guidelines.

• Adhere to established protocols for handling exception escalations.

• Gather applicant information by completing the Fannie Mae form 1003.

• Collect necessary documentation and ensure timely delivery of the loan package.

• Oversee the pipeline for originated loans until closing and finalize required management reports.

• Maintain communication with branches and/or applicants to provide timely updates and progress reports.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent.

• A four-year college degree is preferred.

• Understanding of conventional and/or government lending guidelines.

• Familiarity with residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.

• Knowledge of federal lending regulations that govern real estate lending.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in mortgage lending.

• A well-established network of local referral sources.

• Proven mortgage sales of $1 million per month.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Basic sales technique proficiency.

• A strong motivation to succeed in a competitive landscape.

• Registration under the S.A.F.E. Act is required.
