This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.
• Guide, mentor, and offer technical leadership to the mobile platform team, emphasizing the facilitation of efficient operations for product teams through effective prioritization of platform initiatives.
• Establish, execute, and maintain engineering standards in mobile security, observability, performance, resilience, and release quality, consistently balancing standard enhancements with minimal disruption to product team velocity.
• Serve as a hands-on technical leader in the development and upkeep of shared mobile platform features using React Native and TypeScript.
• Contribute to architectural decisions regarding React Native, native modules, and integrations across Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, and Java.
• Take ownership of improving CI/CD pipelines, build reliability, release workflows, and deployment processes, which are vital aspects of this role.
• Manage mobile platform observability and crash reporting, including tools for logging, analytics, exception monitoring, and production stability; general service alerts are handled by product domain teams.
• Collaborate with product feature teams to ensure that releases are executed smoothly, meet quality standards, and comply with regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Foster advancements in automated testing practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing methods that enhance confidence in release quality.
• Oversee and coordinate production incident management and release activities, ensuring prompt resolution, effective communication, and robust operational control.
• Work with design and product teams to develop and sustain shared UI components, platform standards, and mobile design system capabilities.
• Encourage the adoption of new tools, processes, and standards across product teams through mentoring, documentation, and training, ensuring that improvements are integrated into practice rather than merely documented.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance platform stability, developer productivity, and the long-term maintainability of the mobile application ecosystem.
• Advocate for secure application development practices and support compliance-aligned delivery within a regulated banking context.
• Assess tooling evolution where applicable, including potential future transitions such as a move to Expo, in close partnership with the team.
• Over 8 years of experience in mobile engineering, with substantial time spent in roles such as Tech Lead, Mobile Platform Lead, Staff, or Principal Engineer.
• More than 4 years of practical experience in building and maintaining mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript, which form the core of our stack.
• At least 4 years of experience in native mobile development (Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, or Java), essential for maintaining and supporting existing native libraries.
• Own and enhance CI/CD pipelines, build reliability, release processes, deployment workflows, and broader developer workflows; this is a crucial requirement for the role.
• Strong grasp of mobile architecture, including React Native bridges, native modules, and platform-level architectural decisions.
• Proven experience in enhancing mobile platform observability, crash reporting (e.g. Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, Datadog), exception monitoring, and managing production incidents.
• Extensive experience with mobile testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing (e.g. Detox, Appium, Jest) to bolster release confidence.
• Solid understanding of mobile engineering standards concerning performance, resilience, reliability, and quality.
• Over 1 year of experience leading a mobile platform team, showcasing responsibility for technical direction, mentoring, and engineering standards.
• A proven record of understanding product team needs and prioritizing platform tasks to eliminate obstacles and expedite product delivery.
• Demonstrated capacity to promote the adoption of new tools and processes across teams through documentation, training, and hands-on mentoring, not merely through standard definitions.
• Experience in establishing and maintaining a high-quality standard for a mobile codebase while balancing the ongoing trade-off between standards and team velocity.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across engineering, product, design, and relevant compliance and regulatory stakeholders.
• Previous experience leading at least one significant technical or platform project from start to finish.
• Experience managing or directly leading engineers, with a people-first approach to technical leadership.
