Mobile Audio Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance native audio systems and pipelines for iOS and/or Android platforms.

• Create low-latency, real-time audio features utilizing native frameworks (Core Audio, AVFoundation, AAudio, Oboe, OpenSL ES).

• Oversee audio thread prioritization, buffer management, and real-time constraints at the operating system level.

• Work collaboratively with sound designers, composers, and product teams to produce high-quality audio experiences.

• Troubleshoot and resolve audio-specific challenges such as glitches, dropouts, sync drift, and latency issues.

• Provide architectural guidance for the audio system throughout the entire application.

• Produce technical documentation for audio pipelines, integration methodologies, and platform-specific implementations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in native mobile development using Swift/Objective-C (iOS) and/or Kotlin/Java (Android).

• Practical experience with native audio APIs — Core Audio, AVFoundation, AudioUnit on iOS and/or AAudio, Oboe, AudioTrack on Android.

• Strong grasp of audio concepts including DSP, signal processing, sample rates, bit depth, buffering, and latency management.

• Knowledgeable about audio file formats and codecs (AAC, MP3, FLAC, PCM, Opus).

• Strong capabilities in multi-threading, especially regarding real-time audio thread management.

• Exceptional communication skills, able to connect technical and creative disciplines effectively.

• Proficient in English.

• Experience with cross-platform audio libraries such as JUCE, PortAudio, or miniaudio.

• Familiarity with audio middleware (FMOD or Wwise) outside of game engine applications.

• Background in music applications, podcast platforms, VoIP, or audio streaming products.

• Understanding of MIDI, AUv3 plugin development, or real-time audio effects processing.

• Experience in spatial/3D audio (e.g., Apple Spatial Audio, binaural rendering).
