This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.
• Report directly to the Mill Maintenance General Foreman.
• Schedule and allocate resources for routine maintenance activities to reduce downtime and enhance equipment reliability.
• Maintain work order status from initiation to completion.
• Document damage, misuse, normal wear, and other significant details using notes and codes.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Warehouse, and vendors to coordinate downtime.
• Develop and schedule preventive maintenance and repairs for Fixed Plant Maintenance, Condition Monitoring, and Electrical teams.
• Ensure parts are prepared for upcoming preventive maintenance and backlog repairs.
• Create and update preventive maintenance schedules and work orders.
• Incorporate procedures, pump wear data sheets, parts lists, and calibration sheets into work orders.
• Generate purchase requisitions and apply accurate account coding and work-order postings.
• Assess component rebuild versus new procurement alternatives and communicate outcomes to management.
• Work with vendors and inventory management to ensure stock availability and verify inventory minimum/maximum levels.
• Prepare scopes of work for vendor rebuilds and verify that repair quotes align with requested scopes.
• Conduct research and cost comparisons for items needing Authorization for Capital Expenditure.
• Review and code invoices using relevant business unit and object codes.
• Generate backlog and preventive maintenance reports for weekly scheduling meetings.
• Facilitate scheduling meetings, establish weekly schedules, and prepare work orders for all crafts.
• Research, obtain quotes, and order parts and equipment for Mill Maintenance, Electrical, Instrumentation, Condition Monitoring, and HVAC departments.
• Maintain records and archive files systematically.
• Arrange accommodations for vendors and contractors and log expenses in work orders.
• Ensure compliance with MSHA requirements, including crane inspections, ground checks, and pressure vessel inspections.
• Confirm that safety activities adhere to company policies and MSHA regulations, including Hazard IDs, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.
• Uphold housekeeping standards in work areas.
• Perform additional duties as necessary.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred (not mandatory).
• Valid Driver’s License.
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical planning or a related field.
• Experience with planning and scheduling fixed plant equipment in the mining industry and/or mechanical experience with computer-based maintenance planning/scheduling.
• Strong organizational and planning abilities.
• Technical knowledge of fixed plant equipment and parts.
• Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Pronto or similar CMMS.
• Effective communication skills.
• Adaptability to improved procedures and practices.
• Familiarity with the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act and Regulations.
• Capacity to pass a background check and post-offer physical examination.
• Ability to work a rotating schedule of 28 days on and 14 days off, with shifts of up to 12 hours or longer.
• Capability to operate in a remote campsite under extreme and variable weather conditions, including dust, mud, varying noise and light levels, and confined workspaces.
• Employees are required to stay on-site at the company-provided camp during the work rotation.
